Christine Offerman (b. 1995 South Africa) studied at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 2016. Initially moving to London, and then Paris, Offerman sold her paintings on the streets, where buyers found solace in her transportive interpretations of the natural world. Christine was raised in Nieu Bethesda; a tiny artist’s village in the middle of the Karoo Desert. Observing and learning from the artists in Nieu Bethesda has greatly influenced Offerman’s work, but it was encountering the volume of usable waste in Paris that finally inspired her toward a sustainable art venture; Offerman paints solely on discarded wooden objects that collect in city streets.
